About this space
Modern cabin with a stream crossing the property of 5.7 acres. One hour away from Lake Tahoe, Reno, Truckee, Downieville, Portola and many other beautiful and natural places. It is an excellent location for hunting, fishing and enjoying nature.
The space
Home – The cabin was purchased as a second home and retreat from the busy city life. It sits on 5.7 acres of wooded, mountainous, land on the edge of the town of Loyalton, CA. There is a year-round stream (Smithneck Creek) running across the property and it abuts the Tahoe national forest. It accommodates comfortable up to 6 people.
Accommodation - The are two bedrooms, each with a king bed, and two large sofa beds in the living room that will accommodate a total of 8 persons. 8 is the maximum capacity. There is a full kitchen with appliances, two bathrooms, and a dining area. There is a large porch attached to the North end of the house and a barbeque area at the South end. Near the stream is a small picnic area with tables. The house is heated with a central heating plant that is fueled by a LPG gas tank outside. During the cool months, this can be augmented with a wood pellet stove located in the living room.
Guest access
The space includes all of the main building, bedrooms, living room, bathrooms, kitchen, and porch. We will not usually be available in person but we have family nearby in event of problems or for local information. Access – A paved driveway from Bear Valley Rd. is the entrance to the property. Part of it doubles as a right-of-way for the water district and cars should park on the branch close to the house or off the main drive. There is a combination lock box with a key next to the front door (facing the stream) with a copy of the house key in it.
Other things to note
WILDLIFE:
Bears, Mountain Lions, Wildcats and Wolves are frequently seen in the area.
• They are most commonly encountered around dawn and dusk.
• Do not approach or try to feed these animals.
• Do not leave small children alone outdoors.
• Do not leave pets outdoors at night.
• While walking in the woods make plenty of noise and loud conversation.
• Do not leave garbage or food outdoors.
• If you encounter one of these animals do not run away. Make lots of
noise, stand up straight, and back away slowly.
• Discard any food in your possession (If approached by a bear).
TRASH
If the trash can in the house is full, please take the trash bag down the driveway down to the large blue drum located between the two lower sheds at the bottom of the driveway. Please replace the locking ring (this will keep the bears out of the trash).
